Spring Thaw Workshop: Kitchen Garden Design

Attendance at the lecture on Friday, February 17, is required to attend a workshop. Limit 12 participants per workshop at 9 am – noon OR 1 – 4 pm.

With graph paper, pencils and photos of your own kitchen gardens, participants will learn techniques to fit growing areas into the natural landscape of the backyard, renovate existing gardens, transfer new designs from paper to lawn and seek creative solutions to integrate paths, beds, benches and plants to design the kitchen garden of their dreams. Basic organic gardening techniques are covered, from building healthy soil, essential garden tools, seed starting and how to match the design to the landscape and the personality of the garden. Lots of individual attention and sharing among participants will insure that everyone will leave with a plan, a list of plants and a vision for their new kitchen garden.

Hands‐on workshop features:
-Bird’s Eye View the Landscape
-The Four Square Garden Design
-Visualization Exercise
-Garden tools, catalogs, pottery and art
-Map out and walk through the imaginary garden
