Join Mike Maddox for a day-long workshop in the beautiful DC Smith Greenhouse on the UW-Madison Campus.

  • Tour the greenhouse
  • Practice herbaceous cuttings
  • Practice hardwood cuttings
  • Discuss layering and grafting
  • Practice dividing bulbs
  • Discuss tissue culture
  • Location: DC Smith GreenhouseUW-Madison Campus
  • Date, time, and registration details posted in the January and February Volunteer Vibe, emailed directly to certified MGVs on the third Tuesday of each month.

 Registration includes:

  • Propagation containers
  • Potting mix
  • Ample supply of plant materials
  • Instruction
  • Coffee and light snacks

You will need to bring your own lunch and supplies:image of 10x20 flat of plants

  • Bypass hand pruners
  • Knife or razor blades
  • Disinfectant spray  (Lysol)
  • Large garbage bags, dark or clear
  • Rooting hormone and a separate dark container (film canister or similar)
  • Cutting board
  • Spray bottle filled with water

Dress appropriately:

  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • DRESS FOR A MESS!
