Perennial Flowers:
- Organize an exchange of perennial flowers with members of your class.
- Bring into class different types of herbaceous perennial (root, stem) storage structures and demonstrate how to divide, store and plant the structures.
- Prepare a landscape design and develop a flower bed using both annuals and perennials; include soil preparation, plant spacing, fertilization, watering and disease prevention care — present design and maintenance procedures for class.
- Develop a collection of garden catalogues containing perennial flowers and share these with class members.
- Invite a guest speaker into class to discuss herbaceous perennials as a substitute for the WisLine program.
- Go out into the teaching garden to see the species lectured on (also insects and diseases on the way).
