Level 1 Training
Level 1 training is a minimum of 36 hours of in-depth classroom training on a variety of horticulture topics including botany, soils, pest management, entomology, plant pathology, weeds, and much more. This is intended to provide a basic understanding of horticultural concepts necessary to complete the volunteer service required for certification, as well as learning where to aquire additional information and resources in order to answer questions.
Level 1 MG Training is only offered through the MG Program Office in the fall. The statewide Level 1 Training classes are offered by distance education technology, but some counties may offer classes with other teaching formats. Some counties offer their own program at different times (including spring), so PLEASE contact your local county UW-Extension office to find out the schedule and specific details of the training class where you live!
