Marquette Co. Master Gardener Association (Thyme Shares & Friends)
New Book from Thyme Shares
Thyme Shares MGV’s and Friends have completed a major project, a book entitled Garden Thyme in Marquette County. The centerpiece of the 80 page book consists of twenty stories showcasing gardens of the county. Most of these were featured gardens on our annual garden walks. The engaging stories were written by local author Kathleen McGwin and are accompanied by photos, most in color. Thyme Shares members added educational sidebars and articles describing our activities as Master Gardener Volunteers and the history of our garden walk. We are proud of the professional result and have sold many books already at $16.50. If you or your group would like a copy, please contact Joni Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 608-296-3515.
Master Gardener training was offered by UWEX Marquette County in 1998 for the first time. After completion of the 12 week class, the participants met with the intent of forming an organization that would concentrate on a horticultural outreach in Marquette County. TSMGV&F was formed on September 20, 1999. This organization is an extension of the UWEX Marquette County but is responsible for the programs and activities that focus on horticultural related topics.
We have learned new ways of doing old things, socialized and made many good friends along the stimulating road to becoming better gardeners and stewards of our ‘space’. It is our desire to take our love of gardening one step further – out into the community; where, through education & volunteer service, we can share our knowledge and help people with questions and/or concerns.
