Glacial Gardeners

The Glacial Gardeners Master Gardener Volunteer Association (GGMGVA) was started by the graduates of the first training program offered by the Florence County UW-Extension in 1997.  In April of 1999, GGMVA was accepted as a local association of the Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association.  Current membership includes 36 plus gardeners from Florence County of Wisconsin, and Dickinson and Iron Counties of Michigan.

The objective of the Glacial Gardeners is to share its knowledge and experience of gardening with local communities through volunteering. In addition, it is to educate and promote gardening through lectures, workshops, displays, and interaction in community projects.

Monthly meetings or programs are usually held the second Tuesday of the month at the Florence Wild Rivers Interpretive Center, lower level. Meetings and programs start at 6:00 pm. Membership is open to the public; the only requirement is a keen interest in gardening and plants. You do not have to be a certified Master Gardener to join. Yearly dues are $15.

For more information call the Florence County UW Extension office at: 715-528-4480, ext.113.
