Barron Co. Master Gardener Association
The Barron County Master Gardeners began in the early 1990's to assist Ag Agent, Don Drost, who was serving on the National Association of Agricultural Agents. While out of the office, his secretary, Catherine Walther, was fielding a growing number of horticulture questions. The organization officially formed in 1998 and the first training class took place, resulting in a core of active members. Since then, the BCMG has grown to 50 members.
Training for Master Gardener Volunteers takes place on a regular basis. After completing the training course, volunteers commit to 24 hours of community service in garden projects or youth and community education service.
